I woke up this morning to reports of police in Louisville tear gassing peaceful crowds with children present, shooting pepper bullets at protesters and media, and targeting medics while first aid supplies. The mayor and governor aren’t doing enough to address the murder of Breonna Taylor, instead setting a curfew and sending in the National Guard [edit: who then shot and killed another Black man, a beloved restaurant owner David YaYa McAtee who was known for feeding cops in the west end]. If cops didn’t murder Black people all the time with impunity, people wouldn’t be in the streets.
If you want to support Louisville or other cities where protests against police brutality are happening, please consider supporting the local group Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression or the Bail Project which is a national organization with a Louisville office (leave a note with your donation if you wish to designate it for a specific area or cause).
